The Medical Research Institute (MRI), founded in April 2014，is located on the Shuanghu campus of Wuhan University School of Medicine. Dr. Hong-Bing Shu, vice president of Wuhan University and an elected member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, serves as the first director of the institute.

MRI is dedicated to basic and translational biomedical research. MRI encourages collaboration and emphasizes a multidisciplinary approach in an effort to boost biomedical research at Wuhan University and eventually to establish a high-profile biomedical research center with national and international influence.

We are actively recruiting principle investigators at the full professor level. We anticipate establishing 30-40 independent research groups dedicated to understanding, prevention and treatment of human diseases, including cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, cancer, metabolic diseases,neurodegenerative diseases, infectious and immunological diseases, and others.
