Hong-Bing Shu's Research Team Won The Second Prize of National Natural Science Awards
The 2015 National Science and Technology Awards meeting was held in Beijing in January 8, 2016.
Wuhan University won 6 National Science and Technology Awards. Professor Hong-Bing Shu, the director of the Medical Research Institute (MRI) won the second prize of National Natural Science Awards with his project "Signal Transduction Mechanisms of Antiviral Innate Immune". The project team includes Hong-Bing Shu, Bo Zhong, Yan-Yi Wang, Ying Li and Cao-Qi Lei.
The project deeply studied the antiviral innate immune recognition, signal transduction and regulation. It provides important basic knowledge for us to interpret how the host defends against virus infection, and an important clue to understand the inflammatory response induced by virus and the mechanisms of autoimmune diseases. The project also provides the potential molecular targets for antiviral drugs and vaccine development. "The project reveals the series of molecular mechanism of the antiviral immunity and inflammatory reaction. By such achievements, China will occupy a place in the international competition in the relevant field." Prof.Hong-Bing Shu introduced.
